Greenhouse Gas Permitting

On May 13, 2010, U.S. EPA issued a final rule that establishes thresholds for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that define when permits under the New Source Review Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) and Title V Operating Permit programs are required for new and existing industrial facilities. This final rule "tailors" the requirements of these Clean Air Act permitting programs to limit which facilities will be required to obtain PSD and Title V permits.

Georgia EPD has finalized rule changes that implement the federal GHG permitting requirements. The U.S. EPA and Georgia EPD rules, and supporting documents are available on this web page at the right.

As part of our outreach efforts on U.S. EPA's GHG rules, Georgia EPD held three 1-day workshops on November 9, 10, and 19, 2010. The materials that were presented at the workshops are included below along with other GHG permitting related materials.
