Stage I Vapor Recovery |
||||||||||||||||
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) will be holding public meetings concerning
proposed Stage I vapor recovery requirements
for different counties within the state. You are invited you to attend and participate in these meetings to discuss the proposed rules, get questions answered, and to provide EPD with comments and suggestions regarding the restrictions. The meeting dates, times and venues are shown below.
This Stage I vapor recovery is one of the pollution reduction efforts proposed by the Chattanooga Early Action Compact and the Augusta Early Action Compact. Local government and state environmental officials formed the compacts and coalitions with a commitment to improving air quality in the respective areas, that either did not meet or narrowly met the federal 8-hour ozone and particulate matter standards. The proposed open burning restrictions are the same as those in effect for the 45-county area in and around Atlanta and would only apply during the summer ozone season (May 1 through September 30). A map to the meeting location was provided in each letter that was mailed with the above information. |
